this is pretty sad. after working weeks on my project, i've been getting very negative reviews. i don't even feel like showing those people who wanted to see the final product. feel like i've let them down.
why is it that always the works i feel are my best are hated, and the stuff i do in 45 mins is well-received?
think this will be my last work. I don't feel like drawing anymore. It's no longer fun for me.
Do not take bad reviews as your not making a good art, take them as things to learn from and do next time. Thats the whole point of criticism, to help fix what the artist sees right, but is actually wrong. Everyone has good works and bad works, its not mainly how much time that you put in them, but what the main Idea is. Drawing Asian people, although it may be what you like to draw, foresees you as boring, and afraid to try new things. Try something new, maybe a car, maybe a tree, maybe something else you see in your everyday life, just start to pull away from the Asian people - Becasue after 5 drawings or so, its gets boring, Very Boring... If you wan't to puss out and stop drawing, thats your choice, Or you can fuck the reviews and prove them wrong and show your better than that one piece, becasue most likely you are.
You do have talent, definitely do, you just need to refine it a bit more
IMO - Don't go on a depressionial rampage and stop drawing, because I can guarantee you you will feel worse afterwards, If anything, take a break, and then start drawing again.
thanks. I get what you mean. It was just a phase I suppose. But I still won't really be drawing soon. I actually have a pretty busy life, so normally I just draw whatever happens to inspire me enough to sit down and pencil.
Which happens to be the people around me! I don't know...cars, trees, sceneries, don't really inspire me much. Perhaps I would...draw a tank or something. haha.
Guess I will be going on a break then!

Draw things that are fun. No offense but portraits of Asian people is not enough for NG. We like spice and comedy. Or something we can relate to.

heh. that's what I find fun, actually. Buuut. I get where you're coming from. hmm. spice and comedy. will look into it :)
